Ame died on 22 January 1996 due to accidental causes. She is greatly missed.

I am a very smart cat. Very smart. My favorite trick is get Sachiko to do my dirty work for me, so that she gets in trouble instead of me. I usually do this by knocking over a garbage can so that she can go in. I just stand there like I didn't do anything. I also am very fast and I like to chase Kaiun all over our apartment until she is to tired to do anything else. She is a big white lumbering lump of lard. My projects include coming to an understanding of the doorknob principle and playing Q-tip hockey.

My name is Japanese for 'rain', but it's also a short for for Ametarasu, the Japanese sun goddess. Sometimes I actually think I *am* the sun goddess. I live with Scott and Dianne.

I was left at an early age at the Hayward, California, animal shelter, without a mother, and bottle fed by a foster parent until Scott and Dianne adopted me. Because I didn't nurse a real mother for long enough, I have this compulsion to suck on the little yarn knobs on Dianne's blanket. This is a cat's equivalent to human thumb-sucking.
