I received my Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of California, Berkeley in May 1994. My dissertation work was done in the lab of Steve Beckendorf in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology. I received my undergrad degree in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard University in 1988. My undergraduate thesis work was done in Rich Losick's lab in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology. I grew up on Long Island, New York, in the towns of Massapequa (pre-age 8) and Dix Hills (the rest of my childhood).
I am currently living in New Haven, Connecticut, with my girlfriend Dianne Olivera and our three cats Kaiun, Ame, and Sachiko.
For fun, I like to hike (though I haven't had the chance to do any here on the East Coast since I've returned), and I play some hockey. Alot of my free time is spent on the internet. I've also been an administrator on The Mudde Pathetique (where I was known as "Stenor"). I have also been involved in a number of projects involving the World Wide Web. For more information about my interests, see my hotlist. Also, have a look at the homepages of others in my family.
