Bach's Music

Quote: "It's a strange thing, but if you have good speakers and play Bach very, very loud--even if it's just a smooth piano piece--it sounds like rock music. Bach's music can be matched to any situation. It's perfect. When you play it in reverse, it sounds almost the same. It's very mathematical. You could play it in the elevator, like Muzak. It blends itself. Bach is the perfect musician for the elevator." Jean-Luc Godard, from an interview with Katherine Dieckmann appended to Locke & Warren (eds), Jean-Luc Godard's 'Hail Mary': Women and the Sacred in Film.

Kins Collins asks: Are Jean-Luc Godard's outrageous assertions about Bach's music being like rock music true? Test this idea with some of my Bach "productions" found on the Secret Doctrines page. Or better yet, give a listen to a Bach "production" by the true musical and technical genius Kenneth Jonsson --> Fugue in d minor for 3 Lutes (mp3, 3.3 MB).
